Course Description:
This foundational course in Home Economics introduces students to essential knowledge and practical skills for improving personal, family, and community life. The course explores various aspects of individual well-being, including personal hygiene, nutrition, clothing care, home management, food preparation, and healthy living habits. Learners will also understand family dynamics, relationships, hospitality, and basic garment construction. Through hands-on projects and interactive lessons, students will develop vocational aptitude, self-reliance, and values that support a healthy, organized, and productive lifestyle.

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Explain the purpose and branches of Home Economics and identify related careers in nutrition, clothing, and home management.
- Demonstrate personal hygiene practices and appropriate care of the skin and hair.
- Adopt good posture and healthy habits, including exercise, rest, and sleep routines that promote overall well-being.
- Apply cosmetics and deodorants appropriately and understand the role of indigenous and commercial cosmetic products.
- Select, maintain, and care for clothing, including laundry processes and choice of clothes for various occasions.
- Understand basic nutrition concepts, food groups, and how to plan balanced meals using locally available foods.
- Identify and use simple cooking and serving equipment and prepare basic beverages and snacks.
- Describe family roles and relationships, and demonstrate etiquette in hospitality and entertainment settings.
- Construct basic household and personal articles, using stitches and seams such as French, plain, and decorative stitches.
- Practice safety and hygiene in food handling, personal care, and home environments.
