Course Description:
This course introduces Basic 10 learners to the science of food, nutrition, and healthy living, emphasizing the relationship between diet, body function, and overall well-being. Learners will explore food composition,
meal planning, and safe food handling practices essential for personal and community health.
What You Will Learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify and describe the six classes of food nutrients and explain their functions and sources with at least 80% accuracy.
- Analyze food composition tables and use them to determine the nutritive value of common meals during class exercises.
- Explain the processes of digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats using labelled diagrams.
- Demonstrate proper kitchen hygiene, food handling, and cooking methods that comply with food sanitation laws through practical activities.
- Design a balanced one-day meal plan for an adolescent based on nutritional needs and available food resources.
