Course Description:
This course equips Basic 9 learners with the knowledge and skills to understand, prevent, and respond to common crimes and security threats in their communities. It fosters civic responsibility, critical thinking, and positive behaviour essential for building a peaceful and law-abiding society.
What You Will Learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify at least ten common crimes in Nigeria and explain their causes and effects with 80% accuracy.
- Describe the legal punishments for major crimes such as rape, murder, and fraud as provided in Nigerian law.
- Demonstrate appropriate preventive and safety measures against crimes like kidnapping, armed robbery, and arson through classroom discussions or role-play activities.
- Analyze how crimes such as terrorism, corruption, and human trafficking affect national security and propose two realistic solutions for each.
- Assemble a standard first aid kit and apply basic first aid procedures correctly during simulated emergency situations.
