Key Concepts in General Science

1. What is Science?

   • Branches of Science: Introduction to biology (study of living things), chemistry (study of substances), physics (study of matter and energy), and earth science (study of Earth and its atmosphere).

2. The Scientific Method

   • Steps: Observing, questioning, hypothesizing, experimenting, and concluding.
   • Importance: Understanding how scientists investigate and learn about the world.

3. Basic Scientific Tools

   • Tools and Equipment: Introduction to common scientific tools like magnifying glasses, rulers, thermometers, and microscopes.
   • Safety: Basic safety rules for conducting experiments.

4. The Natural World

   • Living and Non-Living Things: Understanding the difference between living organisms and non-living objects.
